On January 1, 2017, I decided to start a daily project that I called “sketch du jour.” I drew one quick watercolor sketch every single day for a year. To keep me accountable to this project, I posted the sketch daily on Instagram. This made it harder for me to quit when I was so “over it!” The first one hundred days were remarkably easy, but after the honeymoon period, many days were a serious struggle. This challenge taught me how to push through a creative block, how to see beauty in things that I might have overlooked, and showed me the rewards of not giving up. When you challenge yourself to exercise your creative muscle every day, I promise you will be rewarded.
